Dear Mr McCaffrey, 

I felt I must write and thank you for these Dodgeball sessions that my ten year-old son loved from the first afternoon.  He does not play any team sports but reading the Superstars leaflet we thought this might be a chance to change that and keep fit as well.  Of the game my son says, "I love it because I can get my energy out with it; I get to chuck balls at people - it is like a miniature war with strategy and tactics and it is funny and lots of different aged children play it together.  My throwing and catching and my aim have improved - I noticed this when playing snowballs."  He looks forward to playing Dodgeball, now twice a week as you know, and comes home sweaty, exhilarated, confident and relaxed. 

Of you my son says, "I like Mr McCaffrey because he is funny and fair.  He is child-friendly."  In the past my son has attempted a sport but given up with lost confidence because he found the teacher lacking in these essential qualities.

Yesterday, as you know, I stayed to watch the children play Dodgeball and to understand what it was that made my son so happy.  Clearly the game itself is magical fun for kids and probably adults, too!  For whatever reason a child was not interested in team sport, this game would coax them onto the 'field'.

The overall feelings I observed amongst all the ages and types of children were happiness, safety, honesty, friendliness, confidence, relaxed effortless improvement and a pleasant competitiveness.
